Surf reaffirmed its confidence in the trainees from the Le Havre Merchant Naval Officer Training College, both on land and sea, with the 37th edition of the Edhec yacht race. This very high level competition allowed these young officers and trainees to show their enthusiasm and professional skills in a shared effort on board a yacht flying the Surf colours.
In June 2004, the Marseilles Merchant Naval College opened France’s first training centre for officers in charge of dynamic positioning systems, an initiative co-financed by BOURBON. In October, BOURBON sponsored and co-hosted a university and professional study day on the theme of “the human factor in the maritime transport industry”. This symposium allowed trainees to meet and exchange ideas with recognized maritime experts in this field.
And finally, in April this year, for the third year running, two Bourbon yachts took part in the 2005 Hydro’s Cup challenge in Marseilles, racing with mixed crews of group employees and trainee officers.
Through these different partnerships, in both professional and social contexts, the trainees and instructors from the Merchant Navy Training Colleges discover not only Bourbon’s different professions within its Marine Services division but also the skills and values which attract an ever-increasing number of young graduate officers to join our ranks.
