BOURBON Training Center Marseilles
Introduction
Inaugurated in November 2007, the BOURBON Training Center in Marseilles is developed in partnership with the French National Merchant Navy School, and will provide training in anchor handling. Marseilles was chosen to manage the needs of our customers in the European and African zones.
The BOURBON Training Center is designed to train BOURBON employees, but is also open to the entire profession. Crews are not trained in terms of their individual performance, but for the group performance of the crew as a unit.
The opening of the BOURBON Training Center in Marseilles contributes to the standardized training worldwide offered to all BOURBON crews, in a context in which the fleet is increasingly standardized because of long series of identical vessels.
This standardization guarantees our customers greater efficiency, increased safety and identical service quality everywhere in the world.
The simulator
The AHTS (Anchor Handling Tug Supply) simulator is the result of the collaboration between BOURBON, OSC (Offshore Simulator Center) and the National Merchant Navy School in Marseilles. It recreates the realistic bridge and desk environment on an offshore facility anchor handling vessel, reproducing the most common equipment.
Thus, it is an ideal tool to train crews in a variety of operations. This concept simulates high risk offshore operations like towage or anchor handling for offshore facilities using a 3D model.
This simulator is an integral component of the BOURBON internal training. It is designed for the officers of the offshore supply vessels, to give them the expertise necessary to conduct AHTS operations in accordance with the best practices in the industry. It will also enhance the additional skills needed by officers working on modern vessels, including risk management and good team communication.
