Delivery of Thermidor, a new 55 000-ton supramax

In the context of a still highly buoyant freight market and of world growth in the dry bulk shipping demand, Thermidor comes to reinforce the fleet owned by Setaf Saget to accompany its customers development.

On September 28th, BOURBON Bulk Division, Setaf Saget, took delivery of the Thermidor, a sister ship of the Fructidor, built by the Chinese shipyard Sinopacific in Dayang. With her 53 500-ton deadweight capacity, 190 meters length overall, 32 meters breadth, her four 35-ton cranes and 18 m3 grabs, this vessel is a supramax last generation particularly adapted to the market demand. Her cranes and grabs equipment enables to load cargoes and unload in ports not fitted out with ground cranes, which is the case in many developing zones.

As of delivery, the Thermidor set out for her first voyage to Kenya.

A new design for the new Super Handymax

The Horizon 2010 plan includes an investment of 120 million euros for Setaf for the construction of 5 new vessels. This new generation high-performance Handymax will have a new, optimized design, the result of the close cooperation developed between Setaf Saget and SDA.

Weighing 62,000 tons at deadweight, these new vessels will optimize coal or mineral cargoes that have to be loaded or offloaded in ports that cannot accept larger vessels.

Delivery of Dalior, a new 55 257-tonne handimax

This new bulk carrier joins the Setaf-Saget fleet in the context of a still highly buoyant freight market. With her 55 000-tonne deadweight capacity, her 40-tonne cranes and 18 m3 grabs, the Dalior constitutes the pinnacle of the latest generation of super handimax carriers, pending their replacement by the future 60 000-tonners, already in the blueprints of several yards.
