Setaf-Saget operates in accordance with strict safety standards to ensure optimal protection for people, environment and assets.
Crew on board the vessels in the fleet comply with stringent procedures in carrying out their routine tasks. These procedures comply with the ISM code (International Safety Management) which encompasses the measures taken by the company to control safety. On board the vessel, any situation likely to entail some form of risk (for instance, soldering, chemicals application, etc.) is analysed and preventive measures are adopted.
This determined approach is geared to the increasingly strong demand on the part of Setaf-Saget’s customers to report and study every incident that might occur. This helps to ensure, that within their field of competence and also of the company, greater safety in operational methods.
As a result of close co-operation between the captains, technical managers and operational managers who all work for Setaf-Saget safety and work methods are continuously improved. This implies that everyone benefits from the experience gained on board. This drive to improve safety is also based on :
Every time a vessel is chartered, Setaf-Saget systematically checks, notably using alternative databases, that it complies with the required safety regulation and international labour standards. The Port Captain, who acts as the interface between the crew of each vessel and harbour services, port authorities, stands as the guarantor of safety policy. He goes to the site to ensure that operations are conducted in the best interests of the company and its customers, and in strict compliance with safety regulations. His frequent visits, to newly-chartered vessels and those that have been deployed for long periods, makes it possible to check the condition of the vessels and the expertise of crews.
