Liberation of the two French BOURBON officers

The two French BOURBON officers liberated on 5th September are back on French soil

The two BOURBON officers abducted in Nigeria on 2nd August and liberated on 5th September arrived back in France today.

On arrival at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, they were immediately reunited with their families.

Medical check-ups confirm that both officers are in good health.

BOURBON wishes to reiterate its thanks to all involved for their support and assistance that have contributed to the successful outcome of this situation, and in particular to the French Ministry of Foreign and European affairs, as well as the local Nigerian authorities (Police, Special Security Services, Joint Task Force and Government).

Liberation of the two French BOURBON officers abducted in Nigeria

BOURBON confirms that the two French officers abducted in Nigeria on 2nd August have been liberated yesterday night.

After a medical check-up, both officers appear to be in good health, despite the harsh conditions of their detention.

For all those involved in this case, and particularly for BOURBON, top priority has always been given to obtaining, as quickly as possible, the liberation and safe conduct of the hostages.

The two officers will be brought back to France where they will be reunited with their families as quickly as possible.

In line with recommendations made by the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, BOURBON chose not to issue any news bulletins up till now, thus exercising the discretion necessary to achieve a successful outcome.

BOURBON wishes to thank everyone involved for their support and assistance which have helped to contribute to successful outcome of this situation, and in particular the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, as well as the local Nigerian authorities (Police, Special Security Services, Joint Task Force and Government).

Situation in Nigeria

BOURBON confirms that two of its officers, both of French nationality, attached to the Bourbon Apsara, were kidnapped following a land attack on Saturday 2nd August at about 9.30 p.m. local time, near the Nigeria oil industry hub of Port Harcourt in the Niger Delta.

BOURBON is working closely with the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and the local authorities (police, Special Security Service and the Government) to obtain their liberation.

The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs wishes to emphasize that the utmost discretion is necessary in order to achieve a satisfactory outcome to this affair.

BOURBON will disclose any new information when available and verified.
