Making progress and protecting the environment
Bourbon Offshore is very strongly committed to environmental protection, in accordance with the most stringent international standards, those applicable to the oil and gas industry.
This determination is demonstrated in a certain number of guidelines which are applied within the framework of our sustainable development policy :
Nitrogen oxide emissions (or NOx)
The requirements enforced on vessels in the Bourbon Offshore fleet insofar as concerns nitrogen oxide emissions go much further than the regulatory standards alone. This is possible thanks to the decision to deploy new, more environment-friendly engines.
The latest generation of diesel/electric vessels is a new step toward reducing or even eliminating nitrogen oxide emissions. Such vessels produce lower levels of emissions than those fitted with conventional drive systems. Furthermore, for equivalent propulsive performance, fuel consumption is lower than that of other types of vessel.
The fight against pollution

Given the fact that any kind of activity impacts on the environment, the surest way to prevent pollution is to ensure operational safety.
Bourbon Offshore is particularly concerned to provide its vessels with equipment designed to minimise risks. Procedures are fully documented and have been established to ensure that personnel can work in safe conditions. Protecting the environment is also dependent on training and on the commitment of the personnel.
Specialised equipment and systems are used to prevent the risk of spilling any products that may cause pollution. - Emergency systems.
In the event of major external pollution, some of our vessels are able to respond using specialised equipment (pollution containment booms, Transarec, etc.).
