The assistance and salvage tugs for the protection of the coastline draw crowds for a good cause
Paris, August 12, 2010, pdf file
Since early summer there have been more than 5,000 delighted visitors of all ages who thronged to the doors of deep sea tugs, Les Abeilles at open days organized to benefit various charitable associations for victims of maritime disasters, research into cystic fibrosis, etc. (Caisse des Péris en Mer, Associations Le petit prince du soleil et Lutte contre la mucoviscidose).
The captains and crews of the Abeille Bourbon and Abeille Liberté lent themselves enthusiastically to the game of guided visits to discover the bridge, engine rooms or the aft deck with her towing line. And like every year the cornerstone of the visit: the 200 tons winch, a true "weapon" of these impressive "St Bernards of the sea" which are among the most modern in Europe.
In the month of August it is the Argonaute, a support, assistance and anti-pollution vessel, also chartered by the French navy, which opens in Brest, followed in September by the Abeille Bourbon. New days under the sign of solidarity that will sensitize the public to support missions, rescue and coastal protection.
