Subsea Inspection, Maintenance and Repair (IMR)

Bourbon OpaleBOURBON designs and provides latest-generation IMR vessels, customized to the specific requirements for ultra-deepwater Inspection, Maintenance and Repair operations in oil fields.

Equipped with DP2, and in some cases DP3, dynamic positioning technology and cranes with built-in swell compensation systems to 100 tons per 3,000 meters’ depth, IMR vessels also have a large deck area and sizable accommodation capacity, sometimes for over 100 people. Specially customized for IMR operations, these vessels offer full cargo capacity and logistical support giving clients great flexibility in use.

The aim is to define multi-purpose vessels that can be rapidly adapted for different types of mission as well as being economical:

  • support for one or more ROVs
  • support for diving
  • support for laying cables, hoses or small-diameter pipes,
  • support for well stimulation
  • support for drilling
  • support for the maintenance of surface platforms
  • support for health or fire emergencies on oil fields
  • transport of a variety of different-sized packages

The BOURBON vessels have in particular demonstrated their ability to be used for operations of well stimulation by injection. Two of them, the Bourbon Opale and the Blue Angel, have specifically been adapted to the requirements of these well tests by injection or discharge.
