Social responsibility
Development that is socially responsible
BOURBON set itself the target to ensure social cohesion in a highly internationalized and decentralized Group.
BOURBON is taking on its corporate social responsibility through the key principle of equality of opportunity. This principle is reflected as much in recruitment and integration as in training and career paths.
The professional development plans are consistent in all the regions in which BOURBON operates. The subsidiaries offer a very high standard of qualification, adapted to local specifics/peculiarities.
Diversity, a unity factor
Firmly internationalized and decentralized, BOURBON is focusing its efforts on the multi-cultural dimension of its crews and encouraging the management to integrate this on a daily basis. Addressing diversity as a unifying factor fosters cohesion among the employees by providing a favorable environment for mutual understanding. When well managed, culture becomes a source of wealth for the company.
Following through this thinking, the Human Resources department has established a common strategy for the Group’s various entities in order to successfully drive the challenges it faces. Accordingly, in 2009 and 2010 BOURBON developed training programs on diversity, principally for seagoing personnel.
For BOURBON, living and promoting diversity means:
- respecting and taking all individuals into account without distinction,
- recognizing and valuing all identities without discrimination,
- practicing a policy of equality of opportunity.
