The basic principle for the design of the Vessel is to meet operational demands with efficient solutions. The Vessel should be able to fulfil the general demands of the offshore industry as carriage of dry bulk and liquid bulk cargos in tanks, and pipes, and other general cargo on open deck. The Vessel is also designed to act as an Oil Recovery Vessel.
The Vessel will be arranged with accommodation forward and machinery forward and amidships. The Vessel will be arranged as a single-decker. The hull form, with the ULSTEIN X- BOW®, combined with Diesel Electric Propulsion System, ensures exceptional performances with regards to fuel consumption, sea keeping, station keeping, speed and cargo capacity.
The Vessel is the first PSV to be delivered without funnels obstructing the bridge view as the exhaust system is designed such that the exhaust is released by the waterline. This way, the bridge allows the navigators a virtually an obstruction free of vision from any position. The Vessel is equipped with a fire-fighting system to fight external fire. The propulsion system comprises two azimuth type propellers, each driven by an electrical motor. One retractable azimuth thrusters with nozzle and one tunnel thrusters are installed in the fore part of the Vessel.
The Vessel will be arranged for totally 25 persons according to current regulations distributed in 2 off officers’ suites, 13 off one berth cabins, 5 off two berth cabins. In addition there will be arranged dayroom, mess, galley, provision stores etc.
The Ulstein Design PX105 MACS PSVs will be fitted with the recently developed Multi Application Cargo Solutions (MACS) cargo tank concept.
MACS was developed by PG Marine working closely with Bourbon Offshore Norway and Ulstein Design, and is a novel, combination tank solution for offshore vessels, in order to develop a radically new solution for combination tanks (capable of handling liquid and dry-bulk cargo) without the need for conventional pressure tanks.
The Multi Application Cargo Solution is a combination system that enables the use of a single tank type for different types of cargo, ranging from drill cuttings, to dry bulk, synthetic fluids and oil recovery. Then customers can choose among several alternative tank arrangements, depending on which cargo combinations the vessel is designed to handle providing BOURBON’s customers with enhanced flexibility.
