Setaf Saget, Bulk Division
Paris, France
Tell us about your career?
After business school, I completed an advanced degree in transport and logistics. I immediately entered the marine sector, which always appealed to me first with a shipbuilder that specialized in bulk transport and then with another builder that focused on tankers. And I joined Setaf fifteen years ago, a wellmanaged, growing company that also offered me good opportunities for professional development. It was a nice challenge and I don’t regret my choice.
What is the charterer’s business?
It is to find a ship to allow our customers to transport their merchandise from one point of the globe to another at the best price. We are an effective team of 6 people, working directly with the Logistics Managers for cement manufacturers, coal companies and others. The objective is to earn the best return on the use of the vessel.
What is Setaf-Saget’s key to success?
We have succeeded in growing by retaining our historic customers and recording very satisfactory results. I should mention that the decision made in 2005 to strengthen the fleet directly owned by Setaf Saget by building new bulk tankers was a strategic choice that anticipated the changing market. In addition, we put the customer at the center of our organization. The decision-making centers of Setaf-Saget are in France, but we also have offices near our customers, in North America and Asia. As a result, we have developed excellent relationships with those customers, and these contacts, which every day enhance our vision of the 3-5 year freight market, give us an undeniable competitive advantage.
