Bourbon Offshore Surf, Offshore Division
Base Luanda, Angola
« At the age of 22, I embarked on the Alcyon as a student. I then joined theOcéan Voyageurin the United States: Crossing the Atlantic is an adventure, an amazing experience. Since then, I have continued to work for Bourbon Offshore Surf. In 1997, I discovered Africa on the Darius, then on the Achille and the Kiesse as second captain. This was the start of the development of the Girassol field, there were only two supply vessels and one rig. We were pioneers. I was the Captain of the Arethuse, the Ajax and the Malila.
Shorebase Manager in Luanda in 2001, I have served as Safety Manager for 1 year: This is a different job, which combines study and the implementation of processes with site actions during operations… I am developing local instructions for the vessels of the Bourbon Offshore subsidiaries in Angola, I am informing them about Sonasurf and special local requirements. I present the investigation reports to the client.
In fact, I provide the safety link between the vessels, the clients and headquarters. Anticipating what could cause an accident is the reason we publish reports of anomalies and quasiaccidents, which let us share the experiences of each person. Finally, the educational work that I am doing with the seamen is another very rich aspect of this job. Only by making safety a daily priority, by encouraging everyone to report every incident, even minor events, will we achieve our safety objectives. »
